Primero uno toma conciencia de lo egoísta que es.  Del daño que es capaz de hacer a los demás.  Y después uno se da cuenta de que es básicamente una máquina de pedir.  Como niños demandantes, podemos hacernos ancianos y no parar de pedir.  Sólo damos cuando estamos seguros de que nos dan lo que consideramos justo, e intentaremos siempre tener alguna ventaja.

Es cierto que vivimos en un mundo donde la crueldad y la depredación están a la orden del día y en algunos casos, es abrumador.  Es realmente admirable la valentía de muchas personas que consiguen escapar de una situación de abuso y no sólo escapan, si no que dedican su vida a ayudar a los que no pueden escapar.  Igualmente admirable son aquellos que dedican su vida a salvar a los que sufren todas esas situaciones, aunque ellos no las hayan padecido.  Hay miles de personas ejemplares.  Yo voy a poner sólo 2 ejemplos que me tocan especialmente por su vínculo con la moda.  Una es Waris Dirie, con la cual quedé impresionada al conocer su historia.  Si no la conocéis, podéis ver la película “La flor del desierto”, o leer en la web de su fundación.https://www.desertflowerfoundation.org/es/home.html

La segunda es Lady Di.  Ella fue la imagen que visualizaba cuando pensaba “Olvidarse de uno mismo es fuerza” (To forget oneself is strength).  Con ella no hace falta ninguna explicación…

Ambas son mujeres que han sido increíblemente valientes y con una gran fuerza de voluntad.  Han podido pasar por encima de sus miedos y han realizado gestos de mucho valor tanto para ellas mismas como para muchas otras personas.  Y seguro han pasado por momentos de gran furia, ira, irritación y enojo.   Todo esto es el coraje.  Esa furia que se siente, se convierte en valor, en arrojo, en valentía para enfrentarse a esa situación causante de tanto dolor y transformarlo en Amor.

Pero volviendo a las personas que venimos de un entorno menos violento, todos vivimos episodios de crueldad donde hemos aprendido a defendernos con uñas y dientes.  Y nos ha faltado tanto amor que nos pasamos la vida esperando a que nos lo den de alguna manera.  Hasta que nos damos cuenta de que es mucho más “rentable” empezar a darlo, porque seguir pidiéndolo es perder el tiempo.  Ese amor que estamos pidiendo de adultos, que no nos dieron cuando éramos niños, ya sólo nos lo podemos dar nosotros mismos, y es infinito e incondicional… porque viene del Padre.

The why of what it is 9: from “asking for” to “giving”.  «Courage»

First you become aware of how selfish you are. Of the damage you are capable of doing to others. And then you realize that you are basically an ordering machine. As demanding children, we can grow old and not stop asking. We only give when we are sure that we are given what we consider fair, and we will always try to have an advantage.

It is true that we live in a world where cruelty and predation are the order of the day and in some cases, it is overwhelming. It is truly admirable the courage of many people who manage to escape from an abusive situation and not only escape, but also dedicate their lives to helping those who cannot escape. Equally admirable are those who dedicate their lives to saving those who suffer all these situations, even if they have not suffered them. There are thousands of exemplary people. They are both women who have been incredibly brave and strong-willed. They have been able to overcome their fears and have made gestures of great value both for themselves and for many other people. And they must have been through moments of great fury, anger, irritation and anger. All of this is courage.
